| Things
to do this weekend in Auckland
Look
around Auckland waterfront and you will see why they call it The
City of Sails. One of the best viewing places for Waitamata
harbour and it's boats is from the end of Princes Wharf. Take the
stairs by the Hilton hotel to find the hidden public viewing platform.
Auckland has plenty of water activities and you shouldn't miss catching
a Fullers
ferry at the bottom of Quay St and discovering a beautiful island
like Waiheke
or perhaps the other ones in the Hauraki
Gulf.
If sailing is your passion jump aboard the Pride
of Auckland or stroll around the the Viaduct Village with it's
sea vista of boats and trendy apartments.
If you are not up for anything too energetic why not call into the
Maritime Museum?
If
it's family fun you're after then you can't miss the Sky
Tower or maybe Kelly
Tarlton's underwaterworld where you will see some amazing fish
species. If entertainment is on your mind The
Edge or the famous Auckland
Museum will keep you amused for hours. There's also the
Sky Jump, and if you're not scared of heights the Auckland
Harbour Bridge Climb or Auckland Harbour Bridge Jump! Don't forget to put Auckland Zoo on your to do list as it has one of the largest collection of animals in New Zealand. There's lots to do and see all year round including events, eye to eye encounters, Zoom (behind the scene) tours etc.
Not
to far away (30 mins) is our beautiful sub-tropical rainforest in
the Waitakere
Ranges. Bush walks, night canyoning and even abseiling! There's
always plenty of things to do in West Auckland.
All
these activities of course are going to make you hungry and Princes
Wharf has lots of restaurants for example: White
Restaurant at the Hilton, Euro, Float, Exotica,Ynot, Wildfire,
Spice, and lots more. There are also plenty of food halls along
Queen St for tasty treats.
If you are going out on the town don't forget to check menus
and choose where
to eat because there is always time
to dine in Auckland city. K Rd and Ponsonby Rd also have some
great eating places too and they are all within walking distance
of the Auckland CBD.
You
do need to keep an eye on the time
though in New Zealand because it goes so quickly when you're having
fun!
